General Description of Tilapia Fish

The main origin of the Tilapia fish is from the Mediterranean and African countries. The body of the Tilapia fishes is very firm and they flourish in ponds and the highly skilled water tanks where the water is recycled. Since Talapia fish eats pellets made of grains its flesh is of high quality and delicious. The appearance of the Talapia fish is similar to bream. The Talapia fish has a very good resistance against any type of illness and it suits to various atmospheric conditions. The Tilapia species builds their own nests and the eggs are taken care of by the brood parent Tilapia. As far as Oreochromis species are concerned the mouth brooding is done by the females only. In case of the species of Sarotherodon the mouth brooding is done by either male of female Tilapia.
